Collaborative Doctoral Awards (CDAs)
The North West Consortium Doctoral Training Partnership (NWCDTP) is committed to engaging with non-HEI organisations to promote academic collaboration and innovative training opportunities for its highly talented PhD students and has now introduced a new CDA Scheme as part of the DTP2 funding award.
The CDA Scheme offers a non-HEI organization from the private, public or third sectors the opportunity to develop a bespoke, three-year project with an academic at one of the NWCDTP’s Higher Education institutions. A doctoral student will then be recruited to research the project.
The NWCDTP offers CDAs across a wide range of arts and humanities pathways, details of which can be found below:

August 2019 CDA project competition opens
18 October 2019 Deadline for submission of CDA project applications
18 November 2019 CDA Allocation Committee
By 29 November 2019 NWCDTP notifies outcome of CDA project proposals
November 2019 – March 2020 A student is recruited to the CDA project if one has not been identified when the project is proposed.
13 March 2020 Students nomination forms are submitted to the DTP.
September 2020 CDA students start PhD
