Research Summary
This PhD project investigates the efficacy of positive action measures within the contemporary UK music and music technology sectors from 2010 to the present. Rooted in a partnership between Keele University and the Windsor Fellowship (WF), the research evaluates the transition from the legal framework established by the Equality Act 2010 to real-world implementation.
The study seeks to determine if the principle of “equality of outcome” functions as a realistic, achievable goal rather than a merely performative one. By utilising the Windsor Fellowship’s extensive history in the equalities sector as a primary source, the project identifies markers of effective programming. Ultimately, the research aims to bridge the gap between legislation and practice, establishing a new benchmark for positive action models within the music industry.
