Research Summary
Tasha is a current PhD student at the University of Manchester. Their project explores how the ocean is positioned as a site of both extinction and possibility in contemporary cultural production. It traces the ocean’s implication in histories of racial and environmental violence; the transatlantic passages of slave ships, contemporary maritime border policing practices, corporate and state powers that use the ocean to dump waste and extract oil.
