Research Summary

My research examines representations of eating disorders in contemporary literature. By centring everyday experiences of eating disorders, I develop ethical and sensitive ways of reading literary texts which sit with – rather than seek to resolve – textual discomfort. I observe literary texts as sites in which eating disorders are constantly negotiated and reformulated, and seek to examine what eating disorders do, the lifeworlds which they unfold.
