Hi everyone,

I’m Leah, and I’ve recently joined the NWCDTP team to support you with placements, overseas visits, academic exchanges, and other knowledge-exchange opportunities over the next 12 months. I’m really looking forward to getting to know the PGR community and helping you explore experiences that can help your research and open new directions.

My role is all about making the placement process feel clear, manageable, and genuinely exciting. Whether you already have an idea in mind or you’re not sure where to start, I’m here to offer friendly guidance, talk through options, and help you shape a project with an external partner.

Before joining the NWCDTP, I worked in national policing in anti-corruption, vetting and recruitment— roles that involved supporting people through structured processes, working with partner organisations, and helping individuals find opportunities that fit their strengths. I’m bringing that experience with me as I support you through your placement journey.

How I Can Support You

  • Exploring placement ideas
  • Identifying potential partners
  • Developing a project proposal
  • Understanding funding and timelines
  • Preparing for overseas visits or exchanges
  • Signposting training and development opportunities

If you’re curious about placements or want to chat about how knowledge-exchange activities could benefit your PhD, I’d love to hear from you.

Meet With Me

I’m always happy to talk through placement ideas, questions, or plans — whether you’re ready to apply or just exploring possibilities.

Meeting options:

  • In person: I’m on campus Tuesdays and Wednesdays if you’d prefer to meet face-to-face.
  • Online: I’m available for Teams meetings Monday–Thursday, so there’s plenty of flexibility.

To arrange a meeting:

Email me with a couple of times that work for you, and I’ll confirm a slot. Email: leah.goldie@manchester.ac.uk I’m really looking forward to working with you and supporting your placement journey.

Best wishes,

Leah
